The launch of DLL's Employer Branding was an opportunity to both inspire their current employees as well as attract prospects. For this project, we focused on the internal branding. One of the challenges was, to engage both the remote employees and the employees working at an international office. Incorporating new media allowed for an interactive, scalable solution.
I took responsibility in researching the brand and the possible technologies, as well as in communicating with procurement, IT security and IT architecture. Unfortunately, they were not on board due to time restrictions on their side. Therefore, this project was never executed.
After receiving the assignment, I started with researching both the brand and the goal of the Employer Branding launch. Focusing on the internal employees, it became evident that we needed something engaging and globally deployable. I soon decided to focus on AR as means to an end. The main advantages of AR in this context are:
In the research phase, I stumbled upon a video from the Isreali president. In the video, he greets the nation as a hologram. What makes this so special, is his presence within one's own living room. In turn, the video message feels more personal and engaging than a regular 2D video. This is called a volumetric video.
Even though this technology is not very new, the way in which the video is recorded and processed is. Usually, you'd need to stand in a studio with 360 degrees of camera's surrounding you. However, with the rise of Artificial Intelligence (AI), the software Volograms makes it possible to record your video with just a single camera. Once we tested the software for ourselves and were enthusiastic about this innovative communication solution, we needed to get the software approved within the organization. Unfortunately, not every department was on board due to time restrictions on their side. Therefore, this project was never executed.
Even though this project was never executed, the research phase and testing phase were the perfect opportunity for me to express my digital knowledge as well as my creativity. When I shared the QR code with a Senior Privacy Data Officer to discuss the software, he told me he shared the QR code with his colleague because he was so enthusiastic about the technology. That is exactly the effect that I hoped it would have: connecting colleagues and getting a conversation started!
